On 12 September 1958 he was a cornerstone for the construction of the cathedral. Two years later, construction was completed, and 31 May 1970 the church was dedicated.
Construction of the cathedral consists of 16 concrete columns that are arranged in a circle with a diameter of 70 meters. The columns in the shape of a parabola and a weight of 90 tons symbolize the hands facing upward toward the sky. Between the columns were fitted with stained glass fibers. They have the shape of a triangle with base 10 m and a height of 30 m. stained in blue, white and brown were painted in 1990 by Marianne Peretti.
Inside the cathedral there are three statues of angels, which were suspended on steel ropes. They were made in 1970 by AlfredoCeschiatti Croce and Dante. The smallest angel is 2.22 m tall and weighs 100 kg, the average is 3.40 m tall and weighs 200 kg,while the largest is 4.25 m tall and weighs 300 pounds.
